Printing & Tutorial Notes.

Tutorial With TA, 6.3.18

-Bring risk to the work

-Why print onto bags? Can the process of taking them apart be enough? Then move them to a new process.

-More Time lapse. More Boxes.

-Use Plymouth Civic Centre as source material.

-The building seems heavy but the bags feel lite. A heavy building is printed onto a tarp then hung like a hanky.

-Think about what is not present. Voids in the work, Cut out spaces. Things that were there or have been taken.

-Why print the image onto a dumpy bag?

Printing, 7.8.18

After having a tutorial there is always lots to think about. It is a classic case of throwing everything in the air to see how it settles, however for me it is still in the air & I dont know what to look for. Best thing to do is get into the print rooms to make some work.

One of the identified features of the Plymouth Civic Centre (the source of the research for my current project) is the Fibonacci Sequence window. Taking this element into the print room I wanted to create a repeat pattern in the windows onto a deconstructed 1 ton rubble bag. One section of the bag- which consists of two sides & the bottom- creates a long canvas of which to print onto.

I have also identified that the process of making my work is important so I have began to document it using time lapse. This enables a bank of material to go back over & illustrates greater the nature of the construction of the building & my own work.
